Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, listed 100 achievements of the Muhammadu Buhari administration in 2021.
Addressing a press conference in Lagos on Thursday, Mohammed said that despite the challenges of 2021, the administration has made “huge” progress in tackling insecurity and growing the economy.
He listed a $ 700 million (about 300 billion naira) credit facility from the World Bank as part of the administration’s achievements.
“Construction of 159 rural water supply systems in the northeast, camps for displaced people and some federal institutions and establishments,” said the minister.
âFull implementation of the Water Sanitation and Hygiene Extension Partnership Programs (PEWASH) with the construction of 926 rural water supply systems in 12 Imo states, Katsina, Jigawa, Plateau, Zamfara, Sokoto, Ondo, Osun, Delta, Bauchi, Kaduna and Gombe States.
âWorld Bank Guaranteed Loan for the Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Sanitation and Hygiene Program (SURWASH) in the amount of $ 700 million to be disbursed to eligible Statesâ.
In May, the World Bank approved a $ 700 million credit facility that will help deliver improved water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services to 2,000 schools and health facilities, and will help 500 communities to achieve open defecation-free status.
The states are Bauchi, Delta, Ekiti, Imo, Katsina, Kaduna and Plateau.
Mohammed added that despite the long list of achievements of the government led by Buhari, insecurity was a major challenge.
He explained, however, that the Nigerian armed forces have had some success using a combination of kinetic and non-kinetic operations, coupled with a review of strategies.
This, he said, led to the neutralization of over 1,000 terrorists, the rescue of 2,000 civilians and the surrender of over 22,000 terrorists, including their families in the northeast.
He noted that many weapons and ammunition were also recovered, adding that several terrorist bomb factories were destroyed.
