Florida announces $10 million home loan program to help Panhandle

Florida State Relaunches Home Loan Program That Could Benefit Hundreds of Florida Panhandle Homebuyers

DeSantis flew to Panama City on Monday to make the announcement.

A powerful Category 5 storm, Hurricane Michael destroyed hundreds of homes as it crossed Florida’s Gulf Coast in the fall of 2018.

“These storms come and then they go away,” the governor said, “but the damage they leave behind takes time to rebuild.”

The program will resume on September 1 and will provide 30-year fixed rate mortgages to more than 600 qualified homebuyers. It will include $15,000 down payment and closing cost assistance. The interest-free down payment loans will be repayable over five years.

The new allocation of funds was part of the state budget that the governor signed in June.
